First Foods for Babies: Healthy Recipes for 6–12 Months
1. Rice Porridge (6+ Months)
Ingredients:
1 tbsp rice
Water (as needed)
Preparation:
- Prepare rice by washing and letting it soak in 20 minutes.
- Cook in a little water till very tender.
- Mash or blend till smooth.
2. Ragi Porridge (6+ Months)
Ingredients:
- 1 tsp ragi flour
- Water
Preparation:
- Combine ragi with water in a mixture (no lumps).
- Bake in low burner, stirring until cooked.
- Cool and feed lukewarm.
3. Mashed Banana (6+ Months)
Ingredients:
½ ripe banana
Preparation:
- With the help of a spoon, mash banana.
- Slightly boiled, cooled water may be added.
4. Steamed Apple Pure (6+ Months)
Ingredients:
- 1 small apple
- Water
Preparation:
- Peel and chop apple.
- Steam until soft.
- Mash or blend to smooth pure.
5. Vegetable Pure (7+ Months)
Ingredients:
- Carrot / Pumpkin / Bottle gourd
- Water
Preparation:
- Prepare vegetables and cook them.
- Mash or blend smoothly.
- Thin rooms with the addition of water.
6. Moong Dal Mash (7+ Months)
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp yellow moong dal
- Water
Preparation:
- Cook and cook dal until soft.
- Mash and make strain if necessary.
7. Soft Idli Mash (8+ Months)
Ingredients:
- Plain idli
- Breast milk / warm water
Preparation:
- Crumble soft idli.
- Mix with water or breast milk.
- Mash to soft texture.

- Fresh curd
Preparation:
- Mash rice thoroughly.
- Mix with curd and feed fresh.

- 1 tbsp powdered oats
- Water / milk (1 year after use, cow milk)
Preparation:
- Cook oats powder in water.
- Stir until soft and smooth.
