One Ingredient, Three Recipes



1. Crispy Potato Fry



Ingredients:

  • 3 medium potatoes (cubed)
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves (optional)

Preparation:

  1. Potatoes cooking time of 5 to 7 minutes (just a not mushy).
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add leaves of curry.
  3. Add potatoes and roast on medium flame.
  4. Add chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder and salt.
  5. Fry until golden and crispy.
  6. Can be served with rice, as snack.


2. Potato Masala (on Dosa/ Chapati)



Ingredients:

  • 3 boiled potatoes (mashed)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1 green chili (chopped)
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • 1 pinch turmeric powder
  • Curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste

Preparation:

  1. Heat oil, put mustard seeds and allow them to splutter.
  2. Add some urad dal, curry leaves, green chili and onions.
  3. Sauté until onions turn soft.
  4. Add turmeric and salt.
  5. Add in potatoes that are mashed then stir it.
  6. Add a small amount of water to soften and cook 2 or 3 minutes.
  7. Serve with dosa or chapati.


3. Creamy Potato Soup



Ingredients:

  • 2 potatoes (peeled & chopped)
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Preparation:

  1. Boil potatoes until soft.
  2. Melt a butter in a pan and sauté onion and garlic.
  3. Add potatoes that have been boiled and mash it a bit.
  4. Add milk and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Blend to a smooth place.
  6. Add pepper and salt and continue to simmer 2 minutes.
  7. Serve warm.
